Affiliate Project: GEAR UP
GEAR UP (Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs) is a federally funded partnership between Inglewood Unified School District, UCLA, and community-based organizations and businesses, working together to increase the number of African American, Latino, and low-income students going on to college after graduation. Through the GEAR UP program, 1300 middle school students are currently receiving academic and other services to prepare them academically and financially to enter college. Additionally, professional development services and parent workshops on college going are provided for teachers and parents. For more information, please contact Dr. Jennifer E. Obidah, Co-Principal Investigator and Program Director at (310) 206-8184 or Minerva Avila, Project Manager at (310) 412-3149.
