TEP Surveys:
Below are the three surveys used to collect data on the UCLA TEP (Teacher Education Program) Novices, Residents, and Graduates. Click on each of the graphics to download the PDF's.
| Annual Survey of Teacher Education Program Novices |
|
| Each fall, UCLA conducts an annual survey of incoming TEP students to gain a deeper understanding of students background, professional experience and goals, reasons for choosing TEP, and future plans. We use this information as baseline data for the larger, longitudinal study that tracks who stays in teaching, who leaves and why. |
| Annual Exit Survey of Teacher Education Program Residents | |
| Each spring, UCLA conducts an annual exit survey of TEP students just prior to graduationjust as they are completing their first full year of teaching. (As residents, these students work as full-time teachers with extensive field support.) This survey includes questions about their professional lives and aspirations. In order to strengthen the program, the resident survey also includes questions about the quality of students teacher preparation. |
| Annual Survey of Teacher Education Program Graduates | |
| Each spring, UCLA conducts an annual survey of all the graduates of its urban Teacher Education Program. This experimental program graduated its first cohort of 75 students in 1997 and has grown each year. In 2003, the incoming class included 205 students. We have followed the careers of the growing graduate population since 1999, however, the survey included here has remained stable only since 2002. This longitudinal instrument asks graduates about their professional lives and aspirations. It also tracks the reasons these graduates have stayed in or left education. |
